The gay relationship app Chappy has announced that it has launched a Friend Mode that allows gay men all over the world to connect and make meaningful friendships.

As well as its renowned features for dating, where users can decide to connect in three modes: Commitment, Casual or All Dates, the app now aims to help users connect in a pressure-free and platonic way. Chappy hopes that the new feature will allow users to connect on a different level compared to other gay dating apps - whether that be looking for a gym buddy, a mentor or new friends in a city.

The company has also shown its support for an LGBTQ+ charity by announcing that for every match made in Friend Mode, it will donate $1.00 to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth, to help further their shared mission of offering resources and a sense of community to LGBTQ people.

In order to initiate a chat, users must mutually choose to swipe right to match with the other person. The feature also allows users to meet friends globally rather than just in their local city. The app was built with the aim to build better relationships for gay men, free from stereotypes.

In terms of its dating features, Commitment mode allows Chappy users to find others looking for something more serious. Casual mode is for those who like to date at lightning pace whilst users can also opt for its All Dates mode which allows users to flip between the two and match with all users.

Chappy is available for free in the App Store and Google Play in US, UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland.
