Phuket Gay Pride

Phuket PrideThe gay scene in Phuket has a strong sense of community and a proud tradition of charity fund-raising.  The highlight of this community partnership is Phuket’s Pride festival and parade.  First held in 1999, Phuket Pride was an instant crowd pleaser with both tourists and locals, both gay and straight. The festival is supported by local gay businesses and recognised by the local government as an important tourism and cultural event.  This annual event normally take place April in Patong area and features various activities including athletic competitions, art shows, charity auctions, street parties, open-air concerts, cabaret shows and firework displays. The main event is the parade (the largest of its kind in Thailand) which is followed by a variety of stage entertainment.  Afterwards, the venues around Patong Beach and Paradise Complex become a large partying scene that extends late into the night. A roundup of previous Phuket Pride parties is available on the Phuket Pride Facebook page.  Latest news and updates on the Phuket gay scene can also be found on the official Phuket Pride website. The Phuket Pride Week is normally held in April, however organisers have announced that the event will not take place in 2018.
