Beach 19 or Praia de Bela Vista is Portugal's most popular gay nude beach and one of Europe's largest.
Located at the south end of Costa da Caparica, the area is frequented by sunbathers who leave little to the imagination. No one bats an eyelid no matter what you do or don't do, and there's plenty of space if you want a spot of sand to yourself.
Nearby venues offer drinks, food and free WiFi. Much gay cruising takes place in the late afternoon, mainly in the dunes and the forest area. After sunset, the beach becomes rather empty and unsafe.

It is magnificent.
I bring a bag and bring my empty plastic bottles and orange peel back to the bins in the car park.
For men who have sex with men it is pretty disgusting to find that while they act responsibly by using condoms they fail to pick the used condom, tissue and package.
Point is would you leave a used condom on the floor of your bedroom and think that's OK?

Summer time, it is packed with gay men. Half of them fully naked, sun tanned. A lot of action in the bushes. You can find young men, older men, bears, well...everything. The beach itself is nice, clean and safe. Some weirdos too, but that you find everywhere. In wintertime there is also a lot of action. Best gay beach I've visited so far.

Beach 19
Revisited around 27 august 2015. Watch out for your valuables in the car park - my vehicle was one of several broken into - really hide anything of value or take it with you. According to the police there is little violence against persons but a lot of theft/car crime which has seen a huge increase this year. The police now regularly patrol on horseback mainly along the railway track. Beach becoming more mixed; a lot less naturist. Many gay couples are now covering up and rather oddly put on swimming costumes to go swimming. Some cruising when it gets dark but usually bi-locals looking for extra-marital fun. The hidden discrete areas are as filthy as ever - really bad and utterly disgusting. Compared to other beaches listed in the Algave; this one has the highest frequency - over a hundred compared to a dozen or so seen on the most popular beaches elsewhere. The train operates in August, and anyway it's a pleasant 20-minute stroll along the beach from the car park. Internet access is available in nearby Fonte de Telha which is 3 km from the end of the rough beach road. There is also a lovely little market there too, as well as restaurants; and it appears to be much classier than Caparica. This would be a wonderful place if it wasn't for the disgusting practice of people using the dunes and shrubbery as a toilet and rubbish disposal area.

Ive been to this beach regularly for the last 20 years, never have i ever seen this kind of bullshit...no robbers, i parked my car almost everywhere, no rubbish, one of the cleanest beaches...its sad to read a review like this that will influence people. Okay, a lot of older men here, but also a lot of great good looking guys, from teens to muscled men, a lot for everyone's taste. The review above is ridiculous and does not correspond to what happens there. Probably sad no one picked him up.

Visited in September 2014. Train service doesn't run. The cruising area is absolutely filthy with used condoms and soiled tissues everywhere. It's unhygienic, filthy, and a disgrace. It's quite simple; just pick up your mess, put it in a plastic bag and drop it in the bins provided in the car park. This is a beautiful area and a protected wildlife zone so why spoil it? Sooner or later people will act and close this area off. This is a poor area of Europe and the local government does it's best to provide bins for refuse. I spent one morning trying to clean the litter from the car park - about 25 kilos of it. Does the gay community have no Pride in respecting nature and wildlife??? It's there for us to enjoy. so please, please, take care of it, pick up your mess and dispose of it thoughtfully. Bring a small plastic bag with you; don't just chuck your used stuff into the bushes, then dispose of it responsibly. Looking after this world is everybody's responsibility regardless of gender and sex issues.

Okay, same guy here, two sad reviews. So you are going to a beach and tell others to pick up trash? that is your main worry? Also, train service works during summer, sorry about that. 25 kilos of toilet paper, used condoms and shit, well...if you picked it up it says a lot about you. Probably the guys weren't interested in you so...better pick up some trash.
As for the beach itself, you admit it is beautiful. Well it is also safe, there are a lot of hot men there, also weirdos (like you), it is one of the best gay beaches in the world. But of course, you are entitled to your opinion. But its a shame you influence so many people with your sad reviews.
