By far the most famous hotel in Brighton, The Grand is a classic seaside luxury retreat. It's one to tick off your bucket list. You'll be able to say, "I stayed at The Grand in Brighton, you know." It's right on the seafront in an unbeatable location. Although it's a historic hotel, the decor isn't old and stuffy - it was recently refurbed. The colour palette is light and airy, benefitting from the bright light in spring and summer.

The Grand is, of course, a major landmark in UK history. The IRA almost succeeded in assassinating Margaret Thatcher at this hotel in 1984. They failed but had they succeeded history would have taken a different turn.

Afternoon tea at The Grand is quite an experience. This is a fab choice for a gay stay in Brighton.

The 4-star boutique seafront Drakes Hotel is less than 2 minutes' walk from Legends and R-Bar. It features a 24-hour lounge bar with wonderful sea views.

Each air-conditioned guest room has exceptionally comfortable Vi-spring mattresses, Egyptian cotton sheets, satellite LCD TV (including Sky Sports), free WiFi. The bathroom has some rather nice with White Company toiletries and fluffy towels.

The real treat is downstairs. Drakes' elegant 2AA Rosette restaurant is renowned for serving some of the best food in Brighton. Non-hotel guests can enjoy a fabulous breakfast.

If you walk along the Promenade, you might think that The Waterfront (until recently Thistle Brighton) was a tired old office block. Outwardly the worst of British 1970's design, but inside it is a rather good hotel.  It features a swimming pool, spa and small gym.

If location is your priority, The Royal Albion is difficult to beat. The hotel overlooks the beach, next to Brighton Pier. Walk east 2 minutes for the best gay nightlife, bar Legends etc. Walk west 2 minutes for the shops, and north 2 minutes for Brighton Pavilion.

The Royal Albion, which was built in 1826, is traditionally furnished throughout. En suite rooms have a TV and tea & coffee-making facilities, and many have wonderful sea views.

There's a restaurant onsite, but a huge choice of chic cafés and excellent eateries are nearby.

Great choice for all queens. The seafront Queens Hotel is located just 100 metres from the iconic Brighton Pier and a short walk of the city centre shops, The Lanes and the Kemptown gay village.

The spacious en suite guest rooms feature LCD TV's, tea & coffee making facilities and bottled water.  More than half of the rooms have fabulous sea views. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.

A popular budget choice. The ibis Brighton City Centre is located clsoe to the train station, a 5-minute walk to the ‘The Lanes’ shopping area, and about 15-minutes downhill to the gay bars on the seafront.

Each modern guest room features a surprisingly comfortable bed (we've tried it), free WiFi, flat screen TV, desk and tea & coffee makers. Some of the top floor rooms also have (distant) sea views.

The hotel has its own stylish cafe bar which serves great freshly baked croissants and other bakery products for breakfast. Popular budget option.

Jurys Inn is located next to Brighton Railway Station - convenient if you're travelling from London for a weekend break. The beach and gay village are an easy 15-minute walk away.
