Most gay travelers will be familiar with the Somerset's aparthotel concept. You don't get the glitz and glamour of the Metropole, but you do get a washer & dryer, separate lounge and free WiFi.

If you are in Hanoi after visiting other parts of Vietnam or Laos, then the ability to wash and tumble dry your knickers without paying excessive hotel laundry charges could be attractive.

Location-wise, the Somerset is just off the edge of our preferred area, but the Old Quarter is within walking distance.

The affordable GK Central is located within 10 to 20 minutes' walk from Ben Thanh shopping area, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and War Remnants Museum.
