A lot of money had been spent to convert this former British military base into a hotel. It was a successful effort as Fort Canning won the Urban Redevelopment Authority Heritage Award.

Located just a short walk from the shops on Orchard Rd. It is possible to stroll through Fort Canning Park to Clarke Quay and the gay scene in Chinatown, but a 5-minute taxi ride is more convenient.

This Swissôtel Merchant Court has a perfect location next to Clarke Quay (and MRT), a few minutes by taxi from Orchard Road shopping.

Guest rooms have all the amenities you would expect, although we particularly like the Executive Rooms which come with Nespresso machines and Club lounge access.

The hotel has a good-sized pool, sun deck, a well-equipped gym. A good choice of restaurants and cafés are nearby. Gay saunas and massage spas in Chinatown are also within walking distance.

A great option if you want to experience a different side of Singapore. The Sofitel Sentosa is a luxurious hilltop hotel on 27 acres of landscaped grounds on Sentosa Island, near the gay-popular Tanjong Beach Club.

The resort has a 36-yard outdoor pool, tennis courts and a golf course. The Cliff Restaurant is a destination of its own, serving European seafood and fine wine with ocean views. There is a modern gym, and you can get pampered at the Sofitel's award-winning spa.

Our favorite W hotel has its way to Singapore at Sentosa Cove - a playground for trendsetters, with yachting marina, sandy beaches and luxurious residences.

Winner of the Condé Naste Traveler award for Best New Hotels, the W features gorgeous views, outdoor pool, pampering spa and state-of-the-art 235 m² gym. Four restaurants are available. The signature WET Bar and WooBar serve great cocktails and snacks.
